Description
Omega es una compañía que fue fundada en el año 1848, en La Chaux-de-Fonds, en Suiza. Su fundador fue un entonces muy joven y emprendedor Louis Brandt, quien dedicó su vida al ensamblaje de relojes utilizando piezas suministradas por otros relojeros de la zona. Fue posteriormente, en las nuevas generaciones de la marca, que se dieron los grandes saltos de Omega, empezando esta a producir sus propios movimientos.
Un punto importante en la historia de la marca fue en 1880, cuando ésta se trasladó a Biel/Benne, con el fin de aumentar su mano de obra para poder incrementar su producción sustancialmente. 14 años después, para 1894, la marca logró obtener su primer gran éxito, a través de la creación de su primer calibre de diseño propio.
Para la muerte de Louis-Paul y César Brandt en 1903, la marca ya producía más de 240.000 relojes al año y tenía más de 800 trabajadores. Sus herederos pasarían a hacerse cargo de la empresa. Luego, tras la Primera Guerra Mundial, Omega debía fusionarse con Tissot, formando así el gran grupo relojero SSIH en Ginebra.
